Spa. Das in den belgischen Ardennen ansässige Mühlner Motorsport Team baut seit 2020 das Geschäftsfeld LMP Sport aus und hat dieses Jahr mit der Teilnahme eines LMP2 an der European Le Mans Series einen weiteren Meilenstein in der weltweiten Firmengeschichte gesetzt.

Pionierarbeit ist schon seit jeher ein Bestandteil der Firmenphilosopie – Mühlner hat sich schon immer in neuen Rennserien wohl gefühlt. Egal ob in der FIA Serie International Groupe N, dem SRO GT World Championship, ADAC GT Masters oder jetzt im ADAC Prototype Cup Germany.
„Die Rennserie ist ideal für uns“, betont Teamchef Bernhard Mühlner. „Die vier Renntermine fügen sich ideal in unseren Rennkalender ein und wir können das gleiche Fahrzeug mit dem gleichen Reglement einsetzen, wie schon im LeMans Cup die vergangenen beiden Jahre. Wir nutzen viele Synergieeffekte und haben zum Beispiel auch in der IMSA Prototype Challenge in Amerika gezeigt wie wettbewerbsfähig wir mit dem Duqueine D08 sind.“
Auch bei der Fahrerpaarung gibt es Parallelen zur Firmengeschichte: Schon vor 30 Jahren hat Marco Munding Rennautos von Mühlner über die Rennstrecken gejagt – jetzt greift sein Sohn Donar ins Lenkrad. Mit Matthias Lüthen ist ein echter Routinier an Bord. Schon im vergangenen Jahr gab er seinen Einstand bei Mühlner und ist für die gesamte Saison gesetzt.
Auch wenn der ursprünglich am Nürburgring geplante Testtag für die noch junge Meisterschaft witterungsbedingt abgesagt werden musste, ist das Team bestens vorbereitet: Beim Testtag am Mittwoch auf der Heimstrecke in Spa-Francorchamps hat Mühlner Vertragsfahrer Ugo de Wilde den ersten Rollout des Duqueines übernommen und den Wagen in perfektem Zustand an Munding und Lüthen übergeben.
Im Prototype Cup dauern die beiden Rennen jeweils nur 55 Minuten, was einen Reifenwechsel oder Tankstop obsolet macht. Der Fahrerwechsel oder eine entsprechende Standzeit ist aber verpflichtend.

Die Rennen werden sowohl am Samstag- als auch am Sonntagmorgen live über die Website prototypecup.de übertragen.
Parallel ist das Mühlner GT Team mit einem Porsche 911 auf der Nürburgring Nordschleife zum 3. Lauf der Nürburgring Langstreckenserie NLS im Einsatz. Der Cup-Porsche wird von Nick Salewski, Marcel Hoppe und Thorsten Jung pilotiert.+
De nouveaux défis

Spa . L’équipe Mühlner Motorsport, basée dans les Ardennes belges, développe son activité LMP Sport depuis 2020 et a posé un nouveau jalon dans l’histoire mondiale de l’entreprise cette année avec la participation d’une LMP2 à l’European Le Mans Series.
Le travail de pionnier a toujours fait partie de la philosophie de l’entreprise – Mühlner a toujours été à l’aise dans les nouvelles séries de course. Que ce soit dans la série FIA International Groupe N, le SRO GT World Championship, l’ADAC GT Masters ou maintenant l’ADAC Prototype Cup Germany.
“Cette série de courses est idéale pour nous”, souligne le chef d’équipe Bernhard Mühlner. “Les quatre dates de course s’intègrent idéalement dans notre calendrier de courses et nous pouvons utiliser la même voiture avec le même règlement que lors de la LeMans Cup des deux dernières années. Nous profitons de nombreux effets de synergie et avons par exemple aussi montré dans l’IMSA Prototype Challenge en Amérique à quel point nous sommes compétitifs avec la Duqueine D08”.
Le duo de pilotes présente également des parallèles avec l’histoire de l’entreprise : il y a 30 ans déjà, Marco Munding pilotait des voitures de course Mühlner sur les circuits – aujourd’hui, c’est son fils Donar qui prend le volant. Avec Matthias Lüthen, c’est un véritable vétéran qui est à bord. L’année dernière déjà, il a fait ses débuts chez Mühlner et il est prévu pour toute la saison.
Même si la journée d’essai initialement prévue au Nürburgring pour le jeune championnat a dû être annulée en raison des conditions météorologiques, l’équipe est parfaitement préparée : Lors de la journée d’essais de mercredi sur le circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, le pilote contractuel de Mühlner Ugo de Wilde a pris en charge le premier roulage de la Duqueine et a remis la voiture en parfait état à Munding et Lüthen.
Dans la Prototype Cup, les deux courses ne durent que 55 minutes chacune, ce qui rend obsolète tout changement de pneus ou arrêt au ravitaillement. Le changement de pilote ou un temps d’arrêt correspondant est toutefois obligatoire.

Les courses seront retransmises en direct sur le site prototypecup.de, aussi bien le samedi que le dimanche matin.
Parallèlement, l’équipe Mühlner GT Team est engagée sur la boucle nord du Nürburgring avec une Porsche 911 pour la 3e course de la série d’endurance NLS du Nürburgring. La Porsche Cup est pilotée par Nick Salewski, Marcel Hoppe et Thorsten Jung.

Spa. Mühlner Motorsport Team, based in the Belgian Ardennes, has been expanding its LMP Sport business segment since 2020 and this year set another milestone in the company’s global history with the participation of an LMP2 in the European Le Mans Series.

“The racing series is ideal for us,” emphasizes team boss Bernhard Mühlner. “The four race dates fit ideally into our racing calendar and we can use the same car with the same regulations as we did in the LeMans Cup the past two years. We take advantage of a lot of synergy effects and have also shown, for example, in the IMSA Prototype Challenge in America how competitive we are with the Duqueine D08.”
There are also parallels to the company’s history in the driver pairing: already 30 years ago, Marco Munding chased race cars from Mühlner around the race tracks – now his son Donar takes the wheel. With Matthias Lüthen, a real veteran is on board. He already made his debut at Mühlner last year and is set for the entire season.
Even though the test day originally planned at the Nürburgring for the still young championship had to be cancelled due to weather conditions, the team is well prepared: At Wednesday’s test day at the home circuit in Spa-Francorchamps, Mühlner contract driver Ugo de Wilde took over the first rollout of the Duqueines and handed the car over to Munding and Lüthen in perfect condition.
In the Prototype Cup, the two races each last only 55 minutes, which makes a tire change or fuel stop obsolete. However, a driver change or a corresponding standstill is mandatory.
